Virat Kohli Joins Elite Company After Crossing 100 Million Instagram Followers

Indian cricket captain, Virat Kohli, is one of the best batsmen to ever grace the field. He has over 12,000 ODI runs and over 7,000 Test runs to his name and has been one of the most consistent performers over the last decade. He has a massive fan following around the globe which has led him to be the most famous personality from Asia on Instagram.

Virat Kohli has now garnered over 100 million followers on Instagram, the most by a cricketer and an Asian celebrity. He is the 22nd personality in the world to cross 100 million followers on the social media platform. Kohli is also the fourth most famous sports personality on Instagram and the only cricketer in the top 100 most followed personalities on Instagram.

The official Twitter account of the International Cricket Council (ICC) congratulated the 32-year old superstar on achieving the feat.

Portugal’s football icon, Cristiano Ronaldo, is the most followed personality on Instagram, with over 266 million followers. Fellow footballers, Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. are on 8th and 14th respectively. Messi has 187 million followers, while Neymar has 147 million followers.

American singer, Ariana Grande, is second on the list of most-followed people on Instagram with over 224 million followers. She is followed by pro-wrestler turned Hollywood movie star, Dwayne Johnson, who has over 220 million followers.

Apart from Kohli, there are only two more Asians in the top 50 most followed celebrities. Bollywood and Hollywood actress, Priyanka Chopra, and Bollywood actress, Shraddha Kapoor are the other two.
