Punjab Bans Co-Curricular Activities in Schools

The Punjab government has banned all the co-curricular activities in schools across the seven districts due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.

A notification in this regard was issued on Monday, as shared by the Punjab Education Minister, Murad Raas, on Twitter.

“Restrictions on co-curricular activities in the 7 districts stated in the notification due to COVID 19. No gala, sports activities or public gatherings,” the minister said.

The notification says that no co-curricular activities such as sports events will be held in those districts where more than 20 cases are being reported daily. These include Lahore, Gujrat, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad.

The resumption of co-curricular activities is subject to the resumption of the normalcy of educational activities.

All to ensure SOPs compliance in letter and spirit, as already conveyed.

The mentioned districts are also exempted from starting regular five to six-day classes a week, according to a notification on February 26. Schools across these districts will follow alternative day policy due to higher coronavirus prevalence. The situation will be reviewed on March 31.
