Samsung’s New Smartwatches Might Launch Earlier Than Expected

Samsung launched its Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Watch Active 3 in August last year at its first-ever Galaxy Unpacked virtual event alongside the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra.

Now, the Korean company is planning to launch successors to these smartwatches. Although, the company rolls out its devices according to a pre-decided timeframe, this time it looks like the announcement could take place earlier than the company’s usual schedule.

According to a recent leak by Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 might break covers as soon as the second quarter of this year. This means that the devices will go official somewhere between April and June.

Galaxy Watch 3 featured

Normally, the Samsung smartwatches are announced in August along with the Galaxy Note lineup. However, this year, it looks like the company wants to launch the watches before Apple Watch Series 7 to get an upper-hand in the segment.

Reportedly, both Apple and Samsung are gearing up to introduce a feature that will monitor the user’s blood glucose levels. Samsung most likely wants to be the first to launch this new tech.

Apart from this, other reports are suggesting that the Korean manufacturer is going to ditch its Tizen OS for the Google Wear OS on its upcoming smartwatches. If that is true, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 will be the first Chinese smartwatches to have Google’s Wear OS.

The company has not officially commented on the matter yet.
