This Car Battery Can Fully Recharge in Just 5 Minutes

StoreDot, an Israeli Lithium-ion battery manufacturer, has developed a first-generation lithium-ion battery that can be recharged as quickly as an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) can be refueled.

The Israeli start-up has developed the battery with the goal to reduce the “range anxiety” among Electric Vehicle (EV) buyers. The company claims that “5 minutes 0-to-100 percent charge time” of the new battery is going to revolutionize the EV market.

“We are changing the entire experience of the driver, the problem of ‘range anxiety’ that you might get stuck on the highway without energy,” said the founder of StoreDot, Doron Myersdorf, while talking to the media outlets.

The Israeli tech-startup is being sponsored by four major investors including Daimler AG, British Petroleum, Samsung, and TDK.

Since its inception, the company had been testing battery prototypes in cellphones, drones, and scooters. Having observed a certain amount of success in that regard, the company now plans to establish a presence in the automobile industry.
