A Chinese company, Easy Pre-fabricated Homes, a subsidiary of Henan D.R. Construction Group Co. Ltd., has completed a prototype house under the Naya Pakistan Housing Program (NPHP).
The housing unit that costs around Rs. 4 million was built within one and a half months at Faisalabad’s Small Industrial State. The 5-marla unit costs between Rs. 3.2 million to 3.5 million and is constructed with the help of easy-to-assemble fiber sheets.

The company’s architect, Mr. Tony, while talking to GNN News, said that the cost of the sample unit is a little higher because some of the material was imported from China. However, the company intends to produce all raw materials in Pakistan as soon as it gets approval to mass-produce these houses.
According to him, the housing unit has a total covered area of 1732 square feet, including four spacious bedrooms, a kitchen, a TV lounge, and a balcony. Tiles have been laid on all floors. Outer walls have been constructed with cement boards, and gypsum board covering has been used for inner walls.

The most prominent feature of this modern building technique is that it reduces the inner temperature by up to 10 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, the fiber sheets are waterproof, fireproof, and can endure earthquake jolts of up to 7.2 magnitudes. The lifespan of these houses is around 50 years.
