The administration of Islamabad has closed down all private and public educational institutes until 11 April due to a spike in coronavirus cases.

A notification was issued in this regard on Sunday, according to which all educational activities, including the ongoing and pre-scheduled examinations, will be postponed until 11 April.


Punjab to Launch “College of the Year” Competition

The decision came amid a steep rise in the number of coronavirus cases in Islamabad. As per the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), the capital city reported 561 new infections and two new coronavirus-related deaths within the last 24 hours.

Due to the deteriorating situation, the NCOC has also banned all public gatherings, including indoor and outdoor dining, and wedding ceremonies in the capital.


Ramadan Plan for Masjid-e-Nabwi and Haram Announced

The federal government had already announced the closure of all the educational institutes in various cities of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the same period due to the high prevalence rate of the virus. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) confirmed the decision, saying that physical presence in the universities located in the high-risk areas will be prohibited until 11 April, but that online classes will continue as scheduled.
