Former Pakistan captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, made a solid comeback to the ODI side as he took three catches behind the stumps, helping Pakistan to a 28 run victory in the final ODI of the three-match series.
Sarfaraz also completed a personal milestone in the third ODI. He became the fourth Pakistani wicket-keeper in history to take 300 catches across all formats. He is the 21st wicket-keeper in history to cross the 300 catch mark.
Moin Khan, Rashid Latif, and Kamran Akmal are the other three Pakistani wicket-keepers to take more than 300 catches behind the stumps. Kamran Akmal has taken the most catches out of the lot, with 368 catches to his name. He is followed by Moin Khan, who took 341 catches behind the stumps.
Here is the list of most catches taken by Pakistani wicket-keepers:
Although Sarfaraz made his international debut in 2007, he was not the first-choice wicket-keeper of the side, with the likes of Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal, and Adnan Akmal all ahead of him in the pecking order. With his exceptional form and the deterioration of the other three, Sarfaraz established himself as a regular in 2014.
Sarfaraz was a mainstay on the national side in all three formats and was appointed captain until he was dropped from the team in 2019 due to poor form. The competition between him and Mohammad Rizwan has been a blessing in disguise for the Men in Green ever since.
