Pakistan Has Ordered 30.5 Million COVID-19 Vaccine Doses: Report

Pakistan has purchased 30.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from three Chinese pharmaceutical companies.

According to details, Pakistan has secured 20 million doses of CanSinoBIO’s single-dose vaccine, 5.5 million doses of Sinopharm’s vaccine, and 5 million doses of Sinovac’s vaccine.

Sources privy to the development have disclosed that the recently procured 30.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from China will soon reach Pakistan to augment the ongoing mass vaccination drive.

Last week, it was reported that 14.7 million doses of two COVID-19 vaccines under COVAX, a global initiative aimed at equitable access to Coronavirus vaccines led by GAVI, will soon reach Pakistan as well.

14.6 million doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford University’s COVID-19 vaccine under round 2 of the COVAX distribution plan will reach Pakistan by the end of May while  0.1 million doses of Pfizer/BioNTech’s vaccine under round 3 of the plan will reach Pakistan by the end of June.

On the other hand, Pakistan reported 4,825 new cases and 70 deaths from Coronavirus during the last 24 hours, taking the country’s COVID-19 positivity rate to 9.61%.
