Pakistan Railways has announced to operate 11 special trains to facilitate passengers on Eid-ul-Fitr.
A notification in this regard was issued on Thursday, saying that the special trains will be operated between Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
According to the notification, four special trains will set off on Friday (today) from Lahore to Karachi, while as many trains from Karachi to Lahore will operate on the same day.
Two more special Eid trains will be en route from Karachi to Rawalpindi on May 11, while another train will leave from Karachi to Multan on May 12.
The move is aimed at reducing stress on road transport ahead of Eid as hundreds of thousands of people travel to and from big cities to celebrate Eid with their families.
It should be noted that the government has already announced a six-day Eid holiday between May 10 and 15 with a “clear intention of reducing national mobility.”
It has been notified by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) that Chand Raat bazaars, including mehndi, jewelry/ornaments, and clothing stalls will be closed across the country.
The NCOC statement said that all markets, businesses, and shops will remain closed except for essential services including grocery stores, pharmacies, bakeries, vegetable, fruit, chicken and meat shops, and petrol pumps.
