Pakistan Reports Less Than 3,000 Cases for the First Time in Two Months

Pakistan has reported 2,869 coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours, taking the national caseload to 867,438. This is the first time in two months that the country has reported less than 3,000 coronavirus cases. Pakistan recorded 2,351 cases on March 16.

According to the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) data, a total of 38,616 tests were conducted, out of which 2,869 people tested positive. The positivity rate remained 7.42 percent.


Case Registered After Eid Announcement in North Waziristan

The death toll due to COVID-19 stood at 771,692 after 104 new deaths during the last 24 hours.

Here is a province-wise breakdown of deaths and cases reported:

  • Punjab: 1,266 cases, 63 deaths
  • Sindh: 813 cases, 12 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 413 cases, 24 deaths
  • Islamabad: 178 cases, 2 deaths
  • Balochistan: 121 cases, 2 deaths
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 72 cases, 1 death
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 6 cases


Pakistan Railways Reduces Freight Rates for Eid

Pakistan conducted a total of 38,616 during the last 24 hours, out of which 14,111 tests were conducted in Punjab, 12,783 in Sindh, 6,602 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 3,096 in Islamabad, 1,088 in Balochistan, 663 in Azad Kashmir, and 273 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

A total of 623 ventilators are occupied across Pakistan, with the highest vent occupancy in Multan (73 percent), followed by Lahore (63 percent), Gujranwala (52 percent), and Peshawar (41 percent).

There is no patient on a ventilator in Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
