MG ZS EV Gets a Huge Price Cut in Pakistan

The new auto policy 2021-26 has evidently begun taking effect, as Morris Garages (MG) Pakistan has reportedly brought down the price of the ZS EV by Rs. 600,000.

As per a recent update, MG Pakistan has released an official notification, informing that the price of the ZS EV has been brought down from Rs. 6.85 million to Rs. 6.25 million. Although the price of the EV is still too high for a vast majority of car buyers in Pakistan, it is still enough to persuade a fair number of SUV buyers to shift to electric power.

The ZS EV is MG’s all-electric SUV that is the ‘first in its segment’ and has no direct competitors in the market as of yet due to its powertrain. However, being in the crossover SUV class, it does compete with the likes of Haval Jolion, Toyota Corolla Cross, and the yet-to-be-launched Proton X50 and DFSK Glory 5oo.

The ZS EV features a 44.5 kWh battery that powers an electric motor mounted over the front axle, which generates 140 horsepower and 350 Newton-meters of torque. The vehicle also consists of several modern features such as:

  • Dusk sensing headlights
  • Heated front seats
  • Multiple drive modes
  • Electronic stability programming
  • Hill-start Assist
  • Autonomous Braking
  • Pedestrian Alert Control System
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Traffic Jam Assist
  • Blind Spot Monitoring (among other driver-assist features)

As a part of the new EV policy, all EVs have been awarded numerous incentives to encourage a maximum number of automakers to shift their focus towards manufacturing and selling EVs in Pakistan. MG Pakistan has the early mover advantage in the market with the ZS EV, meaning that it is likely to remain a fierce opponent to any EV that may come to Pakistan in the future.
