Higher education institutions are finding it difficult to make it mandatory to get vaccinated for their staff following the suspension of vaccination drives in many parts of the Punjab due to a shortfall of doses.
“We will not be able to make it mandatory for students before the next term. It is almost impossible due to the shortage of shots,” said a senior official from a Lahore-based university.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) had directed the universities’ authorities to get their staffs and students vaccinated, but academics claim that this is an unattainable goal.
The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) also had previously notified the universities’ authorities to get their staffs vaccinated by 14 June, but most of the universities had been unable to comply due to the limited availability of doses.
