COVID-19 Vaccination Certificates to be Checked in Karachi

The administration of District West, Karachi has decided to check the coronavirus vaccination certificates of the workers at bazaars, cinema halls, restaurants, bakeries, and corner shops.

According to Geo News, the certificates will be checked in Saddar, Defense, Clifton, Gizri, and Lyari among other areas.

Those found without them will be considered unvaccinated and will be prosecuted, and the employing shop or office will be sealed.

This decision has been taken to encourage more people to get vaccinated against the coronavirus to reduce its growing prevalence in the metropolis. Additionally, Pakistan reported 1,683 infections during the last 24 hours, which is the highest number of cases since 5 June when 1,629 cases were reported.

A total of 50,531 tests were conducted all over the country, of which 1,629 returned positive, taking the positivity rate to 3.33 percent.

Here is a breakdown of the cases and deaths reported during this period:

  • Sindh: 1,075 cases, 16 deaths
  • Punjab: 167 cases, 7 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 128 cases
  • Islamabad: 104 cases
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 87 cases, 1 death
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 65 cases
  • Balochistan: 57 cases
