The European Union (EU) has announced the donation of €22 million in humanitarian aid for Pakistan and Iran.

According to the details, the package announced by the EU will help assist people suffering from man-made crises, the COVID-19 pandemic, malnutrition, climate-induced crises, and other natural disasters.

€7 million of the total aid will be given to humanitarian organizations in Pakistan while focusing on the most vulnerable local populations including Afghans and host communities.

The Increasing Demand of Eco-friendly Homes in Pakistan

The EU Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, said,

Iran and Pakistan are both highly vulnerable to recurrent natural hazards, with both countries’ situations aggravated by the severe coronavirus pandemic. Iran and Pakistan are also the principal host countries of Afghan refugees worldwide. The EU is boosting support to humanitarian organizations in both countries at this critical time.

Pakistan frequently experiences natural disasters like floods, drought, heatwaves, and earthquakes. It is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world, with floods and drought repeatedly affecting Sindh and Balochistan.

The country also has an inadequate healthcare system, and the ongoing pandemic has increased its existing humanitarian needs.
