CHINESE COMPANY ‘WITHDRAWS’ NOTICE TO EXPEL PAKISTANI WORKERS FOR DASU DAM PROJECT

According to the news report, the Chinese firm working at the Dasu Dam has removed its notice relating to the deportation of its Pakistani workers, confirmed by the WAPDA authorities and Foreign Office.

The Chinese company named “China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC)”, that was jointly working on the Dasu hydropower project, had stopped the work after the incident of bus accident that killed nine Chinese and 4 Pakistani workers of the project.

The authority responsible for managing Pakistan’s water & energy resources later informed that “The Chinese company will soon resume work on the project,” adding that they were in constant contact with the Chinese administrators.

As well as a later of clarification was also released from the foreign office concerning the notification of closure of the employment agreement of the Pakistani workers working on the Dasu Hydropower Project.

Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri- FO spokesman stated that “The Chinese construction company, China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) through its latest notification has declared its earlier notice, about contract termination of employment of Pakistani personnel working on Dasu Hydropower Project, null & void,”.

The foreign office spokesperson stated that “Both Pakistan & China remain committed to timely completion of Dasu Hydropower and other projects being undertaken with Chinese cooperation,”.
