Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Launched With Faster Chip and Better Selfie Camera

Nothing Phone (2a) Plus has arrived as an enhanced version of the Phone (2a) launched in March 2024. The Plus variant brings an updated chipset, new color options, and an updated 50MP selfie camera.

Design and Display

The screen is no different from before. It’s still the same 6.7-inch flat AMOLED panel with 1080p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness is 1300 nits and the surrounding bezels are completely symmetrical. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and has support for HDR10+.

Internals and Software

Nothing’s new Phone (2a) Plus has a faster processor called the Dimensity 7350 Plus. This chip is a souped-up version of the one in the regular (2a) phone. It has two powerful Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 3.0 GHz and six smaller Cortex-A510 cores. The graphics chip is also faster, offering a 10% boost in CPU performance and a 30% improvement in graphics tasks.

You can choose between 8 to 12 GB RAM, but there is only a single 256 GB storage option with no microSD card slot. The software is Nothing OS 2.6 with ChatGPT integration running on Android 14.

Cameras

The main camera setup is identical to the original Nothing Phone (2a), which is a duo of 50MP shooters. The main 1/1.56″ sensor has OIS while the second unit is an ultrawide shooter with a sensor size of 1/2.76″.

The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus has a better front camera than its regular sibling. It now has a 50MP selfie camera that can shoot videos in 4K resolution. The older model had a 32MP front camera.

Battery and Pricing

Battery specifications remain largely unchanged as well. The 5,000 mAh battery supports 50W wired charging, a negligible upgrade from the previous phone’s 45W.

Nothing Phone (2a) Plus will have a starting price of $399 in the UK, but will be slightly cheaper in India at around $334. The new Grey and Black color options are slightly updated, as mentioned before.
