Punjab University has established the Alumni Scholarship Endowment Fund (ASEF) to provide financial assistance to deserving students, helping them complete their higher education.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood chaired a meeting of the PU Alumni Office on Thursday to discuss the initiative. Key officials, including PU Alumni Office Director Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Anwar Chaudhry and Planning & Development Director Prof. Dr. Hafiz M. Anwaar Asghar, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Prof. Mahmood highlighted that alumni around the world contribute financially to their alma maters to support education and research. He noted that most PU students come from middle-class and lower-middle-class backgrounds, and the university aims to ensure that no student has to abandon their higher education due to financial difficulties.
Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Anwar Chaudhry added that the endowment fund will offer scholarships as well as interest-free loans (Qarz-e-Hasna) for 10 years. He also announced the launch of the ‘One Alumni – One Student’ program, under which each alumnus will provide financial support for the education of one current student.
