In a significant development for the mobile gaming industry, Epic Games has officially launched its Epic Games Store for iOS and Android platforms.
This milestone comes after a tumultuous four-year period when Fortnite, Epic’s flagship title, was abruptly removed from the App Store and Google Play. The removal was triggered by Epic’s attempt to circumvent Apple and Google’s payment systems for in-game purchases of Fortnite’s virtual currency, V-Bucks.

This bold move by Epic sparked a protracted legal battle against the tech giants, challenging their app store policies and payment structures. The launch of the Epic Games Store on mobile platforms marks a new chapter in this ongoing saga, potentially reshaping the landscape of mobile app distribution and in-app purchases.
Fortnite is now officially available for Android users globally and for iOS users within the European Union. This relaunch is accompanied by two other popular titles: Rocket League Sideswipe and Fall Guys, with the latter making its much-anticipated mobile debut.
For iOS users eager to jump back into the action, a device running iOS 17.6 is required. Android users have more flexibility, needing only Android 7.0 or later to access the games. The initial download is a relatively modest 25MB, making it accessible even for users with limited storage or data constraints.
Epic has confirmed that Fortnite and Fall Guys will offer full functionality on mobile platforms, including cross-platform account progression. This feature allows players to seamlessly continue their gaming experience across different devices, maintaining their progress, items, and achievements.
Here is what Epic Games CEO and founder Tim Sweeney said:
We are grateful to the European Commission for making it possible to launch the Epic Games Store and offer our games to iOS users in the European Union. Now European iOS users and all Android users can access our store and games, as they’ve always been able to do on open platforms like PC and Mac.
Epic Games has announced that its titles are also available on AltStore PAL, effective immediately. Specifically, Epic’s mobile offerings will soon be accessible through the Aptoide Store for iOS users and the One Store for Android devices. Epic has also disclosed plans to launch exclusive titles for its mobile store.
