Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken a significant step toward environmental responsibility by banning disposable plastic water bottles in all government offices, starting with the CM House. This initiative, aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainability, was implemented immediately following an August 16 notification, according to the CM.
To further this mission, Shah instructed his secretariat to replace all plastic water bottles with glass jugs for meetings at the CM House. Footage from Sunday highlighted this shift, with glass jugs and tumblers on meeting tables, underscoring the government’s commitment to reducing plastic waste. During a meeting, the CM stressed the importance of this change and urged participants to follow suit by eliminating plastic bottles and other disposable plastic items from their offices and public spaces.
Shah encouraged the use of sustainable alternatives like glass and biodegradable materials to protect the environment and improve public health. “Plastic waste is clogging our drains, rivers, ponds, and seas, harming marine life and polluting our environment,” Shah said. “As a nation, we must embrace eco-friendly practices to safeguard our natural resources and secure a cleaner, healthier future.” In addition to the plastic bottle ban, the CM pledged further actions to combat environmental degradation, outlining plans to address air pollution across the province as part of his administration’s commitment to comprehensive ecological reform.
“This initiative is just the beginning,” CM Shah stated. “We are determined to take significant steps to control air pollution and enhance our overall environmental quality.”
