Samsung’s Circle to Search Feature Gets Unexpected Upgrade

Samsung is expanding the capabilities of its Circle to Search feature, introduced to its mid-range A series devices, with a new music recognition function. This addition essentially integrates Shazam-like functionality into the Circle to Search tool, further enhancing its utility for users.

The new music recognition feature is now accessible on Samsung devices that support Circle to Search and have the Google app version 15.32.37.28 installed. This version of the Google app powers the Circle to Search functionality.

However, it’s important to note that the rollout of this feature is being managed by Google, not Samsung. As a result, not all Samsung devices with Circle to Search and the specified Google app version will automatically receive the music recognition capability. The availability may vary depending on Google’s rollout strategy.

This implementation is likely controlled by Google through server-side adjustments, meaning the feature may not immediately appear on all compatible Samsung devices simultaneously.

For users who receive the update, the new feature becomes accessible within the Circle to Search interface. Upon activation, a new button adorned with a music note icon will be visible. Tapping this button initiates music recognition, capable of identifying songs playing either on the device itself or in the surrounding environment. It can also identify songs based on user input, such as singing or humming a tune.

As this rollout is managed by Google rather than Samsung, users are advised to be patient, as it may take some time before the feature becomes universally available across all eligible Samsung devices equipped with Circle to Search.
