Huawei’s innovative triple-folding smartphone, the subject of much speculation, is set to hit the market sooner than expected. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business division, has confirmed that the device will be available in September.
This announcement came during a delivery ceremony for the Stelato S9, an electric vehicle featuring an infotainment system powered by Huawei’s HarmonyOS. When questioned by an attendee about the release date of the tri-fold phone, Yu provided a concise response: “Next month.”
The tri-fold smartphone was spotted in Yu’s hands twice, fueling anticipation among tech enthusiasts. Take a look at the image below.
The device is expected to unfold into a substantial 10-inch screen, offering users a tablet-like experience in a pocketable form factor. While the exact branding of this innovative device remains uncertain, there’s speculation about whether it will be incorporated into the existing Mate series, which includes the popular Mate X lineup of foldable phones.
This positioning could indicate how Huawei views the device within its broader product ecosystem. Given the frequency of recent teasers and the confirmed September release date, industry observers anticipate that an official marketing campaign is imminent. This campaign is likely to provide more concrete details about the device’s features, specifications, and naming scheme. The device is likely to stay in China at launch.
