Foreign Minister Officially Launches Online MoFA Document Attestation Service

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has launched the Apostille Convention in Islamabad. This initiative aims to streamline the process of apostille certification, making it more accessible and convenient for individuals requiring document attestation for use abroad.

The launch ceremony, held on Wednesday, was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Information Technology, and the National Information Technology Board (NITB). In his address, Senator Dar emphasized the government’s dedication to improving public facilitation and highlighted the Ministry’s efforts to enhance public service delivery by simplifying the processes of document attestation and legalization. He encouraged ministry officials to adopt a proactive approach to ensuring efficient service provision.

With the formal introduction of apostille certification, the MoFA and its liaison offices in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and Gujrat will now accept documents for apostille attestation through five designated courier companies. This development is expected to significantly reduce the time and effort required for individuals to authenticate their documents for international purposes.

In addition to the physical submission of documents, the MoFA has also launched an “Online Apostille Application System,” which became operational on Tuesday, August 21.

This system allows individuals to apply for apostille certification online by creating a profile and submitting their documents through the “Online Payment App” developed by Habib Bank Ltd. This digital platform is designed to facilitate a seamless and user-friendly experience, further simplifying the process for applicants.
