Not just Huawei, Xiaomi is also working on a smartphone that folds in three places, according to a reliable source. While concrete proof is yet to surface, the tipster has a good track record, lending credibility to the claim.
The phone, expected to be part of Xiaomi’s Mix series, could be unveiled as early as February 2025 at the Mobile World Congress, potentially as a prototype. This could mean we will start hearing more about the Xiaomi tri-fold phone in the upcoming months.
While Xiaomi released two new foldable phones last month, rumors of a tri-fold device from the tech giant are already swirling. It’s unlikely that Xiaomi will launch another new phone so soon, especially with the holiday season approaching, a prime time for teasing exciting new products.
Meanwhile, Huawei’s Z-shaped tri-fold phone is expected to debut in September, it will likely see a limited release, possibly only in China, as a type of extended beta test. Huawei CEO has been spotted using this tri-fold phone on two different occasions. The phone appears to have a circular main camera and rumor has it that it will be a part of the Mate series, which includes Mate X series of foldable phones.
Despite being a tri-fold phone with extra layers to account for, Huawei’s upcoming device appears to be thin. While it won’t be as thin or light as Honor’s Magic V3, it is going to be slimmer than other tri-fold prototypes we’ve seen in the past.
