An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 cargo aircraft unexpectedly landed in Karachi after it failed to land at Ahmedabad Airport in India.
According to sources, the cargo flight, en route from Addis Ababa to Ahmedabad, attempted to land at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport but had to divert for reasons yet to be determined as it approached the runway.
Following directives from Ahmedabad’s Air Traffic Control (ATC), the Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 3644’s pilot executed a go-around at 1,500 feet and redirected the aircraft toward Karachi. After over an hour in the air, the plane safely touched down at Jinnah International Airport. The cargo flight later departed from Karachi and continued its journey to Ahmedabad.
On August 25, amid ongoing diplomatic tensions between Pakistan and India, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flight utilized Pakistani airspace on its way back from Poland to New Delhi. According to sources from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCCA), Modi’s aircraft entered Pakistani airspace at 10:15 am and exited at 11:01 am, remaining within Pakistan for 46 minutes.
The aircraft entered Pakistani airspace through Chitral, navigating through the air control regions of Islamabad and Lahore before crossing into India near Amritsar. Modi’s trip to Poland was part of a broader diplomatic mission, which also included a visit to Kyiv for discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
