FIA Arrests Two for Sharing Fake Images of CM Maryam Nawaz

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken two men into custody on charges of disseminating doctored images and videos of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz across social media platforms.

Ahmed Hassan and Murtaza Khan were apprehended following a complaint lodged by a resident of Mozang, Lahore.

According to the FIA, the duo was involved in circulating misleading content aimed at inciting public discord.

The matter is currently under investigation by the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing, which is focused on uncovering the extent of the suspects’ efforts to manipulate public opinion by spreading fake content online.

In a related development, the FIA has also registered a case against six individuals, including a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Falak Javed, in connection with a separate scandal involving fabricated videos of Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari.

The FIR, filed by the FIA’s Cyber Wing in Lahore, accuses Falak Javed of spreading the false videos, alongside Hassan Toor, Shahabuddin, Asma Tabbasum, and Muhammad Shafiq.

Furthermore, the investigation extends to more than 20 accounts on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), as well as several accounts on Facebook and TikTok, for their roles in sharing the fabricated content.
